Outdoor Living Areas
There are numerous elements which can be added to Outdoor Living Areas to enhance the Outdoor Living experience. Many homeowners invest in backyard gazebos, pergolas, palapas and luxurious pool houses or cabanas to create a place to entertain and relax with friends and family. No matter your style of architecture, these backyard buildings are highly customizable and allow for maximum use of your yard.
Pool houses, which are also known as Cabanas, are large enough to contain a rest room/changing room and a serving area which opens to the outside. Larger units may also have small kitchens with room for a separate dining area. The largest of cabanas can serve as accommodations for overnight guests, hosting enough space for a dining area, kitchen, washroom and a bedroom.
A gazebo is another option for making the most of the outdoor living experience. Traditionally, gazebos are built out of clear western red cedar with popular styles ranging from casual to formal. Although smaller than a pool house, they can be designed to suit any backyard décor through the use of cupolas, weather vanes, French doors, varnished cedar floors, oval or palladium windows, elaborate moldings and ornately-finished façades.
In addition to providing a quiet place to relax or a cozy place to read, a gazebo can also provide shelter for hot tub owners. Available in a variety of sizes, a gazebo provides bathers with a private retreat, protected from insects and the elements.
Similar to pool houses, some gazebos also feature a cedar countertop and stools around the perimeter for spa-side dining and entertaining. Some spa gazebos can also be wired for interior lighting and appliances and can be used year-round.
Pergolas and Pavilions
Another popular option is the pergola, an arbor or canopy with wooden beams on top that are separated to let in air and light. Pergolas are often used to link outdoor seating and dining areas and if equipped with retractable shade covers, they offer a reprieve from the intense rays of the sun without making you feel closed-in.
A shadow pavilion style pool house has a small room with a large porch area extending out on one side providing the perfect meeting place in the backyard. They offer a fully shaded seating area and can be custom designed with stone fireplaces and exterior design accents to create a comfortable place to relax outdoors.
The appearance of these beautiful buildings surrounded by lovely gardens offers a very peaceful and relaxing setting where both elegant and casual gatherings can take place.
Palapa Outdoor Structures
Bring the tropical atmosphere to your outdoor oasis with a Palapa structure to create a unique gathering place which will build backyard memories for years. In less than two hours, these structures, which are built of cedar poles and a choice of natural or synthetic thatch roofing, can turn the backyard into a tropical paradise. Available in standard size kits or custom built to any size or shape; they provide a cool shaded shelter for gathering with friends and family during the warm summer months.
Pool houses and garden buildings constructed of fir or cedar with attractive wood grains are low maintenance and offer a variety of window treatments including ‘cottage style’ to large cedar sliders and cupolas in an unlimited range of colors. A popular trend with today’s pool houses and gazebos are sliding windows, which allow for three-season use.
